Davao Oriental - Around 2,000 Matinians benefited from the Presidential Commission for the Urban Poor (PCUP) priority program dubbed "PCUP Caravan" on March 29 at Barangay Dahican, Mati City.

The Caravan offered free services such as medical, dental and eye check-up, circumcision or "tuli", mental health awareness, local and international jobs fair, motor vehicle registration orientation, OFW Help Desk, processing of birth, death and marriage certificates, legal services, body and foot massage, health registration and membership, SSS voluntary membership, PWD and Solo Parent ID processing, free medicines and orientations on pro-poor programs.

The said event delivered centralized government services at the urban poor community fulfilling its theme, "Pinagsama-samang Serbisyo, Para sa Tao!"

PCUP Caravan is one of the PCUP priority programs including Adopt-a-Community and Urban Poor Privilege Card. This program serves as one-stop-shop of services for the people, especially to the urban poor sector, to avail different government and non-goverment services like health, legal, education, employment, housing and others.

PCUP Chairperson/CEO Alvin Feliciano said, "Binababa namin yung gobyerno sa tao, na kung saan lahat ng ahensya ng pamahalaan na nagbibigay ng basic services, lahat ng kailangan ng ordinaryong mamamayan, nandito para magtulong-tulong, para direktang maramdaman ng tao ang serbisyo ng gobyerno."

The PCUP Caravan for Mati City is made possible with partnerships from Davao Oriental State University, Caring Hearts Foundation, Ideal Vision, Philippine Army 28th Infantry Battalion, Philippine National Red Cross, provincial, local and barangay government, Kalambuan sa Barangay, PCUP-accredited organizations and Green Community, DOH, TESDA, DTI, DSWD, DOLE, PAO, LTO, PSA, OWWA, DARAB, Philhealth, SSS, City Social Service Development Office, PCSO, CDRRMO, CTO, and Davao Oriental Alliance for Integrated Media. ###
