With the initiative of President Duterte’s long-time partner, Honeylet Avanceña along with the Federation of Filipino-Chinese Chambers of Commerce and Industry, Inc. (FFCCCII), 10,000 relief goods and tikoy were distributed on January 22, Wednesday to those evacuees in some areas of Batangas that are affected by the ongoing hazardous activity of Taal Volcano in partnership with the Presidential Commission for the Urban Poor (PCUP).

Timely, in celebration of Chinese New Year this coming Saturday, January 25, FFCCCII took this opportunity to not just welcome the Chinese New Year but celebrate it with a cause, despite of what happened, FFCCCII reminded every Batangeño that we can still celebrate through little things and share it to our family and friends.

The said relief operations provided goods and other basic needs and necessities such as mineral water, rice, canned products, and non-food items to those residents who are staying in the evacuation centers and still can’t go back to their homes because of the danger brought by the Taal Volcano’s possible eruption.

Other than that, FFCCCII and PCUP also provided food like porridge and champurado for breakfast for everyone to enjoy.

Thousands of evacuees in the Provincial Gymnasium, Barangay Bolbok, Batangas City and in Maghinaw Elementary School, Barangay Maghinaw, Bauan City have benefited from the relief goods as Avanceña, together with her team, members of FFCCCII, and other volunteers from PCUP visited the area.

These beneficiaries are from different municipalities and cities of Batangas who have nowhere to go because of Taal’s dangerous activity. She brought aid to the evacuees, wherein, most of the affected individuals of Taal activity have received the said assistance.

Avanceña is thankful that there are other government agencies and organizations that are willing to help and extend their relief efforts to put those evacuees in a good and lighter situation.

The program was also attended by some Spouses of the cabinet members, Officials of FFCCCII and heads of the Local Government of Batangas ensuring the safety of all the evacuees and determining what other things they could provide to help the Batangeños.

Governor Dodo Mandanas was very grateful for the said program especially to Miss Honeylet Avanceña and to FFCCCII for coming all this way to lessen the burden of the evacuees. ###
